HOW TO: Deconstructed Raw Hem Denim Jacket DIY in 5 Easy Steps
February 24, 2016
Hi everyone, today I'm going to show you how to make you own dream denim jacket, as seen in S/S16 trends.
You can start with an old denim jacket, maybe you already own one or you can raid the thrift shops in search for a nice, cheap, 100% cotton denim jacket. It looks much nice if you use a real jeans jacket, not some cheap denim-like fabric.
First, I will show you the final result, how the jacket looks after 2-3 hours of hand-sewing and deconstructing.
A raw hem is a must for this spring and summer. |
An "evil eye" iron-on patch will add a bit of glamour. |

DIY Raw Hem Deconstructed Denim Jacket in 5 STEPS:
1. Deconstruct the pockets, carefully remove the stitching until you reach the pocket lining which, in this happy case is a darker denim. |
2. You will need a needle and thread to sew the pocket lining on the front side of the jacket, as seen above. |
3. Voilà! You now have awesome denim patches instead of the old pockets. |
4. Do the same for the other side. |
5. Remove the stitches carefully until you reveal that gorgeous raw hem. All done! |
